In 2023, we discovered amazing AI tools like ChatGPT/GPT-4, Google’s Gemini/Bard, Microsoft Bing Chat, and more.

ChatGPT and Google Bard created history. Personally, these tools save thousands of hours in our life.

While my enthusiasm for AI remains strong . but Sometimes, I think about the possible risks or downsides of this. because —

As we’re aware, every technology has its pros and cons. AI, a rapidly growing industry, boost economies, and change how we interact with the world. But, because it’s a big deal, there are a lot of risks involved.

In 2024, regulations will be in the spotlight. Are leaders and regulators really dealing with the actual risks?

Some of the key AI risks to watch out for in 2024—

  1. Privacy violations and data security —

In sensitive fields like medicine and finance, employees use ChatGPT to analyze confidential data for diagnoses and plans, regardless of informing superiors.

2. Deepfakes and disinformation —

Advanced AI deepfakes blur reality, threatening democracy and trust. Malicious use may spread misinformation, manipulate opinion, and impersonate real individuals.

3 . Copyright is a big risk for AI —

AI encounters a substantial risk in the form of copyright concerns. The potential conflicts between AI-generated content and existing copyright laws pose challenges for the development and deployment of artificial intelligence systems.

4. Automation and job displacement —

AI automation is already displacing workers in various industries, and this trend is expected to accelerate in 2024. While AI can create new jobs, the transition will be challenging for many workers, leading to unemployment, income inequality, and social unrest.

5. Weaponization of AI —

AI-driven autonomous weapons raise ethical concerns and threaten global security. The chance of unintended problems and arms races highlights the importance of global rules for creating and using these weapons.

6. Lack of Regulation -

Inadequate regulation and guidelines for AI development and deployment can result in unchecked advancements and potential negative consequences

7. AI in Cybersecurity -

While AI can enhance cybersecurity, it also poses risks if malicious actors exploit AI techniques to launch sophisticated cyberattacks.

8. System Vulnerabilities —

AI systems may be vulnerable to adversarial attacks, where deliberate manipulations can deceive or compromise the system’s performance.

9. Exponential Growth —

The rapid evolution and deployment of AI technologies without proper oversight may outpace our ability to manage associated risks effectively.

10. Social Impact —

AI’s impact on society, including issues like algorithmic decision-making, social inequality, and the digital divide, requires careful consideration.
